- Wedding: March 2012
Ok, don’t know if this is the way I’m suppose to go about starting this, but here goes!
I’m embarking on a DIY adventure. Making centerpieces for my wedding Japanese/Hawaiian themed reception tables to help curb costs.
More importantly, back to the centerpieces. I’m half Japanese and per tradition I am underway of folding 1,000 origami cranes for good fortune (luck or what have you). For those of you interested in this, I found a fantastic website for plentiful and cheap origami paper. For $2.75 you can get 100 sheets of 6 inch solid color origami paper. This was important in my case since I have 4 (count them 4) colors in my wedding and wanted those colors repesented in different shades. With solid color paper, and colors of my choosing, I have control over this. PLUS with 6″ sheets, using a straight edge paper cutter, which I already had for scrapbooking, you can actually cut each square down to make smaller squares. More squares=More cranes per sheet.
The website for this was [www.asianfoodgrocer.com] I ordered on Friday (8/26), paid via Paypal (my preferred choice), and it was shipped on (8/30), I will update further when I can get my hands on the acutal paper.
Now since I’m going to have 1,000 of these cranes I’m going to utilize them as decorations on the different tables. You can look at this as multi-purposing or spreading the love.
That’s enough for one post, look for Part 2 which I’m typing out as soon as I finish this one. Hope this starts to help others trying to do the same thing!
