Ok, back again for another installament of the DIY origami tree centerpieces adventure.
So I plan to use the cranes as ornaments, I haven’t quite worked out how I’m going to go about turning them into ornaments, but I’ll post as soon as I figure it out. Right now I’m looking at using small crystal-like beading or some other sparkly bead that will pick up the candle light from the venue-provided votice candles. I am optomistic this will not be a fire hazard!
I’ve looked into branches and from what I’ve been able to find, I think that the 18″-24″ manzanita branches are going to be my best option. I like manzanita because of it’s naturally elegant dark color, although some of the natural lighter shades are quite beautiful as well. Manzanita is also wonderfully sturdy. These however can be pricey, and I’ve searched and searched for relatively inexpensive branches. A previous post I read somewhere on this site used the website [save-on-crafts.com] and had a good experience. However, when I checked it out on The Better Business Bureau [www.bbb.org] they had an F RATING! (A+ being the best). I’m sorry, but that’s not worth the risk.
Instead I found a seller called “deywon” on eBay.com that sells various size manzanita branches for a fraction of the price with reasonable shipping AND has a 100% positive rating AND uses Paypal. Sweet! Having used eBay quite extensively I would be comfortable purchasing from them, plus I have communicated with them a couple of times and they have been very helpful and courteous. As soon as I purchase from them I will post again.
Now, based on the large numbers of pictures they “deywon” provides they show the branches in a 9″ glass vase which looks really good to me. So I found a flared rim 9″glass vase at The Dollar Store for $1.
Now, that’s enough for this post, but I will have a Part 3 shortly!
