I’m working on my DIY monogram painted aisle runner right now. It’s pretty easy, although very time consuming if you’re doing a detailed design.
The one tip I didn’t run across anywhere that would have been useful for me is to cut a thin strip off one end of your aisle runner and test out your paint colors on it. The acrylic paint colors I picked are coming out MUCH darker on the aisle runner than they were in the bottle or even than they did on paper. I was using straight purple and it almost looks like black. I ended up adding white and lightening it up for another section, and that helped, but it still is drying quite a bit darker than I intended.
There are lots of other great tips I’ve read on the board and galleries – taping everything down, there are online sites that will blow up your design for you to print, using wax paper underneath.
