I am sooooo glad to be done with this! It gave me major headaches.
All I need to do is wrap the handle. Right now it’s just wrapped with electrical tape, which, btw, did a much better job for me than floral tape!
And now I can move on to bouts… but yeah, this is just going to be a pain to move with me to Iowa. I may end up carrying it on the train with me like some crazy person!! The paper is delicate no matter what I do and I am afraid of it getting crushed. Oh, and it’s HUGE, but that’s okay with me. 😉 We made so many flowers, I just couldn’t bear to leave any of them out! All the pink ones are what we made; the white were store bought.
I love the little rhinestone / pearl flowers I added. Found them on a cheapie tiara at a junk store for $2 then cut them off with wire cutters and attached them to floral wire stems instead. They are much prettier in person, wish I had a better camera than the cell phone one!

@aunt pol: Yeah, well it felt like forever! Making the flowers was actually pretty quick. Fiance and I got that done in one evening watching TV. The longest and most difficult part has been arranging them so no one color was too “clustered”. My OCD tendencies don’t help! And keeping them all even, they kept wanting to sink down under each other, so getting them even and holding them tight to get them to stay took me forever !
Thanks everyone! I’m pretty thrilled with it! Hopefully for the wedding we’ll get much better pics of it and I will share those instead!

WOW!!!! I am not usually one for paper flowers, but those are absolutely stunning!! You did a great job and they look so nice!
For carrying them, you could try putting a little trash bag on top of it, or a clean plastic grocery bag. It’ll be airy and light, but still protect it from dirt. You definitely don’t want to ruin that gorgeous piece of art! 🙂
