- Wedding: April 2013
I’m a DIY bride on a budget and decided to make my own invitations. I knew this would be an undertaking (I helped do my sister’s invitations 3 years ago and it was very labor intensive) but I also knew that it would save a lot of $$$ and I loved the idea that my friends and family would be receiving something that was made from the heart :o) I found an invitation on Etsy that was my inspiration and I got to work! First I ordered the cards, bought the stamp and the ink, got the ribbon to match, and found fonts that were similar to the Etsy one. My mom and I worked to get the cards lined up just right (btw, if you decide to do your own invitations, order extra for this very reason) and we started printing. Once we got our rhythm down, it seriously only took us around 45 minutes to get over 100 printed! Now I’m in the process of stamping the feather on the bottom. This is a very tedious process, but it looks absolutely beautiful! Next comes the ribbon and then we’ve got to get the small card printed. We are using our wedding website for RSVP’s to save on cost. Anyway…I wanted to share them with all of you beautiful ladies and get your feedback! Also, I want other brides to know that you can do DIY invitations and get pretty much exactly what you want (most of the time!) without spending a small fortune.
This was my inspiration:
