Soooo. I didn’t ever think of a photobooth for the reception until my mom pushed it on me for a little bit. Now my fiance, my mother, and I agree that it’s waaaay to expensive, but after looking at all the fun people have, testing out a few myself, and off course Pinterest… I’m obsessed with the idea!
I am NOT willing to spend the money on someone bringing a booth, but would still love to create my own station. I don’t want to have to buy an ipad, a camera, or a printer for instant photos, but I’m worried that without instant photos people may not enjoy the DIY photo”station” and all of our time/stress will have been wasted making it.
What do you think? Has anyone tried just a background with props where people can take their own pictures? Should we maybe at least provide disposable cameras nearby?
I also thought that if FH and I took some pics at the station (with/without bridal party) while people could see how much fun it is, then maybe there will be more of a crowd?
OR should we just not waste our time?

If I were at a wedding I would use my own camera or ask others to take pictures. Almost everyone has a camera on their phones now. I am interested in what others say. Good question!

If you have a computer, I know there is an app or program (probably several) of some sort that you can set up with your computer and it will save the pictures to a digital source (I think it’s a website). Sorry, this isn’t too much help but I would look into computer programs you can download! That way people can go online and look at the pictures.

I’m in the same boat! I really want one but there’s no way I’m paying for a booth or instant printing. I went to a wedding a few years back that had a DIY one set up, they just put a camera on a tripod and some props set out. It was very well used because it was so much fun! We just grabbed whoever was near by and asked them to hit the button. Lots of people also joined in and used their camera. As the night went on, the props made thier way to the dance floor 🙂 When the couple sent out their thank yous, they included pics from the photobooth..very fun looking back!
Our problem is that we’re leaving for our honney moon the next day so I want to have my camera card empty and ready to go. Our wedding is in a barn so I’m hesistant to borrow someone’s because of all the dust and also potential it gets broken…we’ll see though! 🙂

My only concern was that people wouldn’t have as much fun without being able to see their pictures right away. Your comments really let me see that that just might not be the case!I’m curious to see more comments/votes.
