So I painted the clips last night, to see how they would look with some added color.. it took 2 coats, the yellow could probably use a third.. thoughts?! Does it look better with the colors than black?
Here’s them painted:

I love them both ways, but the punch of color is so adorable! Maybe some can be left black and others colored? … my favorite color is the purple. It looks great.

They do like nice painted, but here’s the problem you may encounter. Unless you have a place to set them up and transport them without touching, the paint will get all chipped up and they’ll look worse with just some black showing through.
I’d leave them black and save yourself some grief.

The colors are so cute, but its going to be alot more work than if you just left them black. Since you’re wedding is still a ways a way, I would tackle painting a few at a time. Soooo cute 🙂

@ItWasntMe: Good point.. I have plenty of room to set them for drying.. and I was just going to box them up & have them sit in my “wedding room” til I need them.. they won’t be getting moved around a lot, so I don’t think they’d chip much, if at all.. but good call.
@coffeegal85: Yeah we have lots of time.. and I told my Bridesmaid or Best Man we’re having a binder clip painting party one day over the summer lol I have 9 of them, so we could knock it out in no time!
@MsMindle: I like the purple too! Violet is my main color, with hints of yellow & orange.. the other 2 colors aren’t in a lot of things, besides the clips, the bouquets.. and table numbers.. I like having the little bit of extra color in small things, like these clips.

Oh my god.. why are place card holders such an ordeal… oh that’s right, because the “bride brain” is crazy. So I’ve nixed the whole painting thing.. I just keep thinking it looks too childish.. so I decided to leave them black, and glue a little purple bow to each just to give it something. There, I’m done. Lord help me.. all this over place card holders no one will even notice..
