- Wedding: December 2017
So I’m making my own wedding cake topper (among other things) Since I wanted something a bit more personalized than your standard cake topper. Making my own seemed like the right thing to do. I’ve done maquettes in the past for class and used super sculpey and armature wire to build the thing. This is going to be quite adventurous.. more adventurous than my guestbook -____-” Yeah.. im quite ambitious.
I wanted to create the right kind of topper that would represent me and my Fiance. The first thought was him and I on his motorcycle. I went hunting online for a replica of his motorcycle and I found his exact one! Now to sketch it out. So here’s what I got.
I decided to add some glittery little stars on wires emitting from the exhaust on the motorcycle.. or somewhere. not sure where. Stars bc i love the star shape and that symbol would represent me whereas the motorcycle is his thing.
Another dilemma that I have to think about is how to sculpt around the motorcycle. I know i could sculpt them on the motorcyle with no probs. But since I know i cant bake the clay in an oven and risk melting the motorcycle.. I decided to use a heat gun which would be better, but still, how do i prevent frying the bike? Is there any heat proof type of paper/ material out there that after sculpting I’d just tape off/ cover the bike so I can bake the sculpture?
Also, Wondering if i should make the bride’s dress from cloth or clay? I know the groom will be sculpted it would make it easier to paint. I also didn’t want it to come off as 2 barblie like dolls with cloth dresses on a cake 😛
Gah so many questions! 😛 My wedding isnt ’til Nov so i have a lot of time to work on this.
What do u gals think so far?
