Ok so I’ve looked for some original ideas for our guestbook and I think I have found the one I want to do, or at least try and do… A puzzle! I have found this website and it’s close to $500 to order one soooo I’m going to DIY myself with the help of Fiance. He thinks I’m nuts but I think that if we can pull this off, then it will be the best guestbook ever!!!
So after researching at work (I love my job, that’s all I do all day is surf the web and take calls, can’t complain hihi), I know that I will need birch wood which I can get, I will need a scroll saw which the Fiance has at home, and then we will just need one of our Engagement pictures blown up to the size we want and glue it on to the wood. Then we cut out our puzzles pieces for the guests to sign the back of the puzzle.
Now I think I just need to figure out how to glue the picture to the wood… anyone know? AND what do you think about this crazy plan of mine? I know, I know, I’m crazy with some of my DIY projects… I have alot more where this one came from hihi

ive actually seen that done. you can get “picture puzzles” made, and they come in a nice tin with your picture on it, at walgreens.com alot cheaper than $500, if you dont end up making it yourself. very neat idea tho!

so just an update, today Fiance and I went to Lowes… and found MDF and it’s $5 (canadian) for a 1/4″ 2×4 piece… we are going to buy this and test it to see how it comes out… now the question is, how do I glue my picture to it? Anyone know?

i think modge podge would work. put a good coating of it both under the picture, between the pic and the wood, and then over the picture and along the edges.

Be VERY careful with the saw, that’s all I have to say. Puzzle pieces are tricky and I have a couple family members who have lost thumbs to different types of saws.

Check on Etsy as a bunch of sellers make this puzzle for the same cost the Walgreens one.

@Wonderstruck: thank you for the advice. My Fiance is the one who will be cutting the pieces… I’ll make sure that he is careful, wouldn’t want him to lose a finger.
Thanks for the suggestions ladies.

There are some great companies out there. My friend used a company who made really thick puzzles and they were about $30ish. She used The Missing Piece Puzzle Company and had her engagement pics on the puzzle. Looked awesome, was fun, and it hangs in her living room and isn’t stuck in her closet. Here’s the link: http://www.themissingpiecepuzzlecompany.com and look at their Wedding Guest Book Puzzles section.
