I think its a really cute original idea!! I would love to get that as an RSVP ๐Ÿ™‚

Since you wanted help with the text I would say the P looks more like an L shorten the trail a lot. Also maybe make it a touch thicker so it stands out more?

Or don’t put RSVP on the front at all, just have RSVP across the back at the top and then the details below.

I would recommend that you contrast your typography with the free-form nature of your graphic. I believe it would stand out so much better and would be much easier to read if you used a bold, sans-serif font.

@eocenia:  Perhaps.  However, based on what I just saw online when I Googled that style of typography, I would be careful which one I selected.

The goal would be to have a very simple, bold, clean-style type to contrast with the detailed, intricate, very jagged, free-flowing form of your graphic.  You don’t want your contrast to be, as we say in the design world, “caught in the middle.”

I do love the idea of the luggage-style tag and the map, however! I think it’s wonderful! ๐Ÿ™‚

@eocenia:  I voted yes because I like the overall theme of it.  The only thing I’m not crazy about is the RSVP placement.  If you want to stick with that font, I would suggest having the letters read across instead of up and down because they do not line up right and are a bit distracting.  You could have the graphic in a lighter shade and then the RSVP could be a bit larger and overlay over the graphic.

Another idea could be to use a simpler font and make the “RSVP” look like it is a label on the map…

@eocenia:  I suspected that the Art Noveau fonts would not work.  May I ask that you just humor me and try using, in all capital letters, R   S   V   P, spaced out, horizontally, not vertically, beginning on the outside, not the inside of the graphic, at the latitude where you have the R currently, and try Futura Extra Bold or a similiar, dark, clean font, just to see what it looks like? (If it turns out to be TOO stark and clean for you, then maybe we can try a bold serif font, but I’d like to see this first.)

@eocenia:  It’s definitely not as noticable with the second font.  I still think it might be more appealing if it read across rather than vertical.

I was thinking more along the lines of a label on a map – like the font that the country would be written in or something.  Now that I think about it more, I don’t like that idea! LOL

Although, a stamp like you said might be cute in the top corner of the tag, overlapping the map a bit like the staff at the airport just stamped it.. – something like (with RSVP written in black of course):

Don’t mind me…I’m just throwing ideas out there!

@eocenia:   I agree that we’re not there yet. (I never know until I try something if it will work, and design is ALL about revising and refining — sometimes over and over.)  Try lowering the point size a bit. Is that Arial? Helvetica?
