- Wedding: September 2016
I got married in Cranbrook, BC, Canada on September 17th. It was a fantastic day and I think everybody had a great time! A few things went wrong – the weather was unseasonably cold and rainy; the videographer accidentally went to the city where we live instead of Cranbrook, which made him 4 hours late but still well in time for the wedding; makeup took way longer than it should have so we lost about an hour of picture time; my bustle didn’t even make it to the first dance, which I knew would happen but I let my seamstress do it her way anyway; the DJ played only maybe 5 of our “must plays” through the entire night and played a lot of music aimed at my parents friends; and the first look was incredibly anticlimactic, but still was very helpful in easing jitters and getting photos done early. Still, I had such a fun time, the ceremony was everything I hoped it would be, it looked absolutely stunning in the hall, the food was fantastic and plentiful, the bar got a good workout from the guests, and people danced the night away.
For anyone interested, here is a probably not exhaustive list of the things I DIYed for this wedding: backdrop (with help), flowers, place cards, prepping live succulents as placecard holders, invitations, veil, mirror signs, wine bottle hurricanes, painting the marquee lights, guest “book” picture, ankle straps for my shoes, cake toppers, rose petal aisle runners, set up and tear down (with help), cake (not actually me, it was my FIL)… So, I was a busy bride!
Now, for the part everyone actually cares about, the photos:
We did a wine mixing during our ceremony…
