One of my best friends is getting married in September and I am throwing her and her Fiance a couples shower in June. I want the theme of the shower to be “Date Night” and have everyone bring a “Date” (giftcards to restaurants, movie theaters, voucher to go rock climbing, concert tickets, basket with items for a picnic…etc) as a gift. When they arrive to the shower I’ll have all the guests place their item into baskets for each month so the new couple has at least one date night each month for a year.
Ok here’s my issue. I have very little creative juices flowing through my body.
1) If you have ever thrown/been to a shower with a similar theme could you post a picture of the invites? Or if you received/made an awesome shower invite post a picture of those too so I can get some ideas.
2) Could you give me ideas for the wording on the invites, so that it’s cute but also gives a good explanation of what kind of gift to bring?
Another idea I had (okay I found this idea on weddingbee) was to make all of the food/drinks at the shower related to important dates in their relationship (first date, where they met, first kiss, first vacation together etc.) Here I need help with the “etc.” What are other milestone moments in relationships I could base the food items off?
Thank you for all your help!

As far as the invite goes, it might be cute to have a simple silhouette o a couple holding hands, or maybe a picnic or eating dinner. (Any “date” kind of things you can find.) Or even a picture of the bride and groom (stage a picnic?) – Are you designing the invites yourself?

@sfms: Thank you for the ideas! Yes I would like to try and design them myself, and by myself I mean with the help of the Bees 🙂

Okay, here are two poems I’m considering using. The first is one I wrote and the second one Darling Husband wrote. I can’t say I’m in love with either, but it’s a start. What do you all think?
The proposal , a success,
Wedding well on its way!
The newlyweds will need to de-stress
After planning this day.
Aruba is sure to be great
But will end far too soon.
Let’s supply them with enough dates
To make it a year long honeymoon.
A successful courtship,
A lovely wedding ahead,
The start of a beautiful friendship,
For these soon –to-be-newlyweds,
But the special day will pass,
And the honeymoon cannot last,
They will need movies, dinners, and fun things to do…
So let’s give a year s worth of dates to these two!
Combine the two
Keep working on it 🙂

I like both of them, but if I had to choose, I’d say I like the first one better. (I like the mention of Aruba – makes it more personal.) But I do also enjoy the second-to-last line of #2, with some suggestions (“They will need movies, dinners, and fun things to do…”) So maybe there’s a way to combine them somehow…?
So, basically, I’ve come to the same conclusions as you. 🙂
