YES.  I would suggest having someone to serve the ice cream, though.  Otherwise it would get REALLY messy.

@Vivalarevolucion:  Yup! They had the supplies on one table and they also had a server scooping the ice cream for everyone and adding the toppings you wanted. Kind of like a buffet line with a server. It was awesome!

wedding cake rarely tastes good, I say go for ice cream! I guess the only thing is you’ll have nothing to “cut”… unless you do an ice cream cake!

Ice cream is my favorite dessert ever and I support this 100%!  Although a wedding cake tie-in could be cute – maybe cutting up smaller pieces or cubes of cake to use as a topping.

Hmmm, I wanted to do this too, but I’m worried it will be a logistical nightmare for us!

We arn’t having servers and it’s an outdoor, summer wedding.  I had thought a lidded bain-marie in a ice bath might work, but I might have to run some experiments on time, melt factor and *oboviously* taste… How sad 🙂

I did one!  My cousin did at her wedding years ago and I’ve always wanted to do ice cream instead of cake, so we made it happen.  Hmm, I could go for a tin roof sundae right now… 🙂

We’re renting a soft serve machine.  No fuss, no servers needed, no worries. i am so excited for our ice cream bar!

Our experience was that people didn’t eat our cake. The cake was delicious, but it was simply too hot for cake on the day. Ice cream would have gone down so much better!

Traditional wedding cake is gross and no 0ne REALLY likes it. Such a waste of money! ICE CREAM! Now that’s a winner… 😉 You could make a sundae together and feed it to each other! Joint sundae!

@wabanzi:  OMG! What a fab idea.

I wonder where I can get a soft serve machine??
