Hi ladies! I finally registered with weddingbee after reading posts upon posts about various things dealing with everyday “need-to-knows” regarding wedding planning. I finally decided it was time to register so I can start posting, blogging, and just getting advice!
I just discovered this whole new world of “DIY Wedding Card Box” and I need help! What are you all using to cover your boxes? I’ve seen some people have spray painted theirs, some have wrapped them in wrapping paper, and some have used some silk material (which By The Way, dupioni silk is super expensive, so I’m trying to find an alternative).
ANY help, suggestions, pictures, ANYTHING, I would be forever grateful!
Thank you ladies!
(PS – some of you might see this in the “Classifieds” section. Oops. I did say I was new! hehe)

Welcome to the Hive dear !
As far as cardbox covers, I’m pretty sure you can use anything that you want ! hehe If you want the fabric look, you could go to a fabric store and see what they have on sale that has the look you want. I’ve used fabric to cover boxes before ans it always worked well.
You could paint your box according to your wedding colors and cover it with lace for a romantic, classic look too.
Do you have any inspiration pics that we could see ? It might help us suggest things if we know the look you are going for 🙂

Are you a member of Pinterest? If not, and you’d like to be, send me a PM with your email and I will send you an invitation to join. There are some great inspiration pics there.
You don’t have to restrict yourself to a box either. You can use any secure container. Many brides use something that relates to their theme, like a birdcage or a mailbox.

I love this card box you can find in the DIY here on Weddingbee. it is basically 4 frames hinged together with a wood bottom and two pieces of fabric covered plywood at top leaving a gap for cards. what is so awesome about it is you can put it on a little Lazy Suzan and four photos so your guests can spin it and look at the photos. Or me.. I’m writting Love Poems in pretty caligraphy on each side. 🙂 Yea, I love the swirly stuff

Hi Ladies! THanks so much for some advice!
@ maudemaisha – I’m actually not too picky as to what I’m looking for… I originally found this picture on Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/pin/162481499026002543/
Those boxes look as if they are wrapped in wrapping paper (however, upon looking at it more closely, pretty sure they used fabric). I was going to do wrapping paper, however, upon searching through Pinterest, on here, and just plain google searches, I see many other people are using fabric, paint, etc… So I was just wondering what looks the best, works the best, and is the “easiest” to DIY. I like the spray paint idea – it’s easy! However, how does it seriously look?
Just looking for what others have done and what they found the easiest, the prettiest, or whatever! 🙂
@Julies – yep, I am on Pinterest – addicted! That’s where I found the pic of the wedding card box! Naughty Pinterest, gets my mind a wandering!
