So I posted the other day about a makeup trial that wound up more dramatic and less natural than I was really hoping for. We made some second round adjustments, but I feel like because it’s corrected it doesn’t realy show through.
Here’s the thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/makeup-trial-help-pics-heavy-1#axzz2QwEPG6U8
A good handful of bees like my personal makeup job better…
So today I had a bit of time to play around and tried my hand at a wedding day makeup, but I remembered pre-photos ( Sorry – It’s scary)
Here’s after makeup:
It’s hard to tell – but the Gray background is dim lighting, the pink background has bright natural lighting (it looks the opposite actually).
Notes: My eyebrows need to be fixed. I know. Thanks – I have to go to someone as I have no talent at this. Second, No falsies – and I would pick them up if doing my own. I’ve worn them while clubbing, so I’m not afraid of them.

@dragonlover: I definitely like this better than the pro pics you posted. I’m a makeup artist, so I can be rather nit-picky of others’ work, and the pics you posted of your other trial just didn’t have that “professional” look to me. I think you did a MUCH better job than the “pro” and this look is absolutely beautiful.
ETA: I would blend/tone down the blush just a little tiny bit 🙂

Also, Urban Decay makes a makeup setting spray called All Nighter that should keep your makeup in place. There is also one that the Disney princesses use called Final Seal.

@s2bmrscook: Thanks for the compliment.
You hit on my concerns. I like how I do my everyday makeup, and understand to play it up a bit for the wedding day. However, I can never seem to get my makeup to last for several hours, nevermind a full day, and I’m worried how it will look with professional photography.
Yeah – the blush looked brighter with photography – it needs to come down a bit, especially as I’m sure i’ll be prone to red face the day of.

i voted ‘your own’ bc im doing my own too. i usually never wear makeup so i don’t want to look made up or fake on my wedding day — just plain ‘ol pretty. i think your DIY makeup looks natural but pretty. you have great lips just play them up a little 🙂 i didnt see pics of your MUA look but they always look so over done in my opinion. good luck! few weeks left for you exciting!!!

@dragonlover: If you’re concerned with the blush going too “pink”, MAC makes a great blush that is more “purple” than pink. My cheeks are pretty pink too, so the blue tones in it help balance that.

- Wedding: March 2014 - Brazil Room
I started going on Youtube and hunting down technique tutorials like gossmakeupartist and makeupbyeman to help me learn makeup better. I think it benefits people of all skill levels to check out tutorials.
I definitely like your eye makeup better here than in your pro MUA run. I think your brows could use some reshaping and some defining. I would also suggest use less blush add some bronzer conturing and do a matte lipstick instead of a gloss.

@NovaGrey: Maybe I need a darker shade of bronzer. I actually put it on pretty heavily in this photo, to the point I felt it looked fake.
I’m also a little scared of bronzer and feeling “fake.”
