- Wedding: July 2013
I just finished making the flowers for our wedding and wanted to ask your opinion about them. I decided to use real touch flowers for several reasons – although they are not cheap (I tried to find the good quality ones, that actually do look like the real thing), for me to have the fresh flowers that I love (peonies and orchids) would be impossible because they would be insanely expensive. I also like the fact that all flowers already done and I can just store them neatly packed away till next year. And I’m super allergic to a lot of plants, so I wouldn’t want to take chances of me sneezing all day during our wedding.
I’m still not sure about how they look though, I really wanted flowers to look realistic and classy, not cheap. I’m also under a strong peer pressure from my mom, who is an avid gardener and my sister, who lives in England (where apparently everybody is a gardener) – they try to convince me that fake flowers are unacceptable in pricniple. But then again, with a budget of 4000$ for the entire wedding (I mean EVERYTHING) I don’t really have that many options, do I?
Basically, I made two sets of corsages/bouts: one with white moth orchids for FI’s family members, wrapped in red brocade silk (we use this silk in our invites and in other decor) and the second one with peach gladiolus flowers wrapped with ivory satin ribbon (the same as I used for my bouquet) for my family members. My bouquet contains both orchids and gladiolus plus white peonies and white roses. I thought it’s a neat idea to distinguish the family members, I thought it would be easier for the guests to figure out who is who.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Do they look decent (not plastic-y or cheap)? I never done anything like this before, that’s actually is another reason why I’m unsure of myself. Any opinions would be appreciated. I also was thinking about selling the flowers after the wedding, if you were on the market, would you buy them?
Here is my bouquet:
My mom’s corsage
Corsages for my aunts:
Bouts for my dad and uncle:
Future Sister-In-Law corsage:
A wristlet for the wife of my FI’s brother:
I also made a headband for one of my Future Sister-In-Law daughters (for another girl I made a hair clip with an orchid):
Bouts for his dad and brother (I have a couple more of these for his Brother-In-Law and uncle, but they are basically identical to these):
For my sister and my two nieces I made a completely separate set, basically just one large light pink peony for each of them (corsage for my sister, headband and wristlet for the girls), I didn’t take pics of those though.
Thanks for looking everybody!
