I plan to make my own invitations. I will print the addresses in light gray ink and then trace over them to get the look of handwritten calligraphy.

karrissa :  we’re making our own.

I designed them on the computer. They’re inserts for pocket folds. They’re hopefully being printed next week.

I taught myself brush calligraphy and hand lettering to do the envelopes. It’s a lot easier than you’d think! 🙂

We DIY’d our invites and I’m happy with them. From concept and trials to completion and mailed DIY takes more time than you think so I would start early. We were right down to the wire with our timing. My best advice is take into account the number of invites you have to make. The more invites the more simple they should be.

We made our own. We bought a template from http://www.downloadandprint.com/ and then printed them off at home. We based ours on a pocket fold invite but the pocket was on the back of the invite.

We did a few prototypes until we were happy with it and then got a bit of a production line going. Give yourself more time that you think you need and make more than you think you need so that if you get some wrong it’s not a last minute panic.

Im not just because for what I wanted I felt that I couldn’t beat the price with a DIY. However if you were waniting an invite that would be more money to order from somewhere than I am all for it 🙂

I made my own using a Silhouette! It was certainly a labor of love (it took about an hour to make each invitation and I made 130) but super worth it in the end! Though I wouldn’t have been able to do it now… at the time I was a senior in college taking all online easy classes!

I made mine and certainly recommend it! I designed it all in Photoshop and printed through vistaprint. I also printed/cut liners for my envelopes and made belly bands out of pretty gold paper.

cinnapep :  Where did you find the design for your liner? Any tips on printing it? Was that through Vistaprint too? My sister is designing our save the dates and invites. The save the dates we’ll send as postcards, but the invitations I will do in envelopes and I’d like to make them pretty. Yours look beautiful!
