After 2 failed makeup trials with a makeup artist…
I dont wear makeup daily but I wanted to spruce my day to day look up some for my big day. Im doing diy test runs to prepare. What do you think? Too plain? Does it work?
I think I need to invest in better concealer. This is maybelline and the under eye coverage is just ok. I also need a lot more practice with applying these false lashes! That was a task!

i think you look good. One you put on your dress, do your hair, accessories etc I think you will look beautiful.
i would suggest make up that is waterproof and heat resistant, sweat resistant especially for the camera! 🙂

You are beautiful! I love the eyes — so classic! I’m personally not a big fan of visible lip liner, so I would either use a bit lighter liner or fill them in with a little darker color. But I know darker lip liner is a style, so if that’s what you were going for, you nailed it! I wouldn’t call any of it plain. I’d call it a great job.

Thank you! Good tip. I will keep this in mind!
Thank you for the sweet compliment :). I will work on blending the lip a little more.

I would use a stronger/pinker lip color. Right now they just look like your regular lips.

I like that idea. Thanks.

You are beautiful. I think you could do your own makeup and look stunning. I’m thinking about doing my own makeup.

I think you look gorgeous! If you want high quality foundation, try Bare Minerals. My cousin did my makeup and convinced me, and now I use it everyday! I got color matched at Ulta, so I was sure to buy the right shade.

I like it! I think you could pull off a more drastic look. But if your going for something simple, this look is great!

Thank you so much :)! You should. It will save a lot of money and you will most likely achieve the look that you want! Good luck!
Thanks for the suggestion. I will do some reasearch on that product. Ive heard good things about Ulta too. Thanks for the compliment. 🙂
Thanks! I am considering a bolder, more dramatic lip.

Another vote here for a little more colour. Photos need a little more than day to day make up I think. Good job though!

Another vote here for a bit more color! Lips and maybe cheeks? I would also practice with the false lashes more, and make sure that they eyeliner goes on smooth and doesnt smudge (your right eye looks slightly smudged maybe?)
I highly reccommend starting wih a primer if you don’t already. And a great product for making makeup last is the makeup setting spray by ELF, its like two or three bucks and works great in my experience!
Great job, you can totally pull this off for your wedding 🙂

More color vote here as well, and I do second the eyeliner comment. Agree with the primer as well, Benefit Porefessional is a great one.
I also suggest you go to Sephora to get matched foundation wise (and concealer too, since you want a new one) with their Color IQ tool. That will allow you to sample from a huge range of very high quality products, and get to try all of them. Artists there will also help you choose a foundation that photographs very well. The best part- you can do it now, and practice with your samples.. and do it again before your wedding, and get more samples for free! So you can wear a high end foundation on your day and pay exactly $0 (unless you decide to get it, of course.)
Also- did you set your undereye concealer with a powder, to keep it from moving? And if you have darkness, did you color correct before applying concealer? A peachy/ orange tone corrector really helps balance darkness, and the concealer then brightens the undereye area properly. Something to look into- plenty of YT tutorials on those, I recommend watching Jackie Aina; she has a dark skin tone as well, and is my go-to YTber.
For the eyes, I personally like dramatic, so i would say intensify the eye color, and smoke it out a bit more. But- you may be going for a natural look, so that’s totally up to you.
All in all, great job. Just make sure your makeup photographs well under bright lights, and you are good to go!
SN- I do NOT work for Sephora lol

you are a natural beauty – no need to wear a ton of makeup! I also plan on doing my own makeup when I get married next year.
