We are getting married out of state. For those guests coming from out of state as well, we wanted to provide them with a little “Welcome” when they arrive at the hotel.
I know that we have quite sometime before the wedding (April 2014). But, once I start thinking about something, I want to get it over and done with! Also, I wasn’t sure what we were going to do for the bags, so I wanted to try different things before it got too late!
I’ve been hunting for cheap canvas bags online that you have personalized. there is no such thing. So, I went to my local AC Moore (beginning to stop there almost every day now, between the wedding and yarn!) and found they had canvas totes onsale for $1.99! SCORE! I swipped up 10 of those bad boys.
At the beginng I was going to try and tackle screen printing. But, I thought I would get too stressed with that. I went for the stencils instead.
Here’s my finished product. LOVE IT!!

Are you doing Welcome Bags? If so, what are your plans?

@klhubb: I am doing welcome bags. However I am not too creative, as to do something on the outside of the bag as you are. You did a great job By The Way. I am going to do something that ties into the wedding like you have done with the heart and H. Just haven’t found what I l like yet.
I am just going to get some little trinkets local stuff from the Tahoe area, and a visitors guide. Some specialty choclates and coffee. And to personalize each bag I am digging to find out what kind of beverage wine, beer, or whatever each guest likes, and will put that in the bag. With a handwritten note in each bag. I am lucky I only have to do 10 total.
What are you putting in your welcome bags?

@klhubb: They’re gorgeous, well done! Could you do another bird so they could be love birds? Just an idea. Wish I had a shop like that nearby. I’m getting really into crafting since the wedding and most stuff has to be sourced online.

@thumpurr: Honestly, this was the first time I had ever stenciled! I was really nervous, but it ended up working out in my favor (Pun Intended 🙂 ) The heart was just an ornament from AC Moore, and I hot glued the H on it using yarn to tie it to the handle.
I think I’m going to do waters, with a label that has our names on it. Candy and something local to MA, since that is where the wedding will be held. A map of MA and some information about the surrounding area. Maybe some info on things to do in the area. that sort of stuff. Good luck with yours!
@phoebephoebo: Oh that’s a cute idea, doing another bird. I should try doing that!! 🙂 Yeah, online shopping can be difficult! Good luck!!
