I was perusing Pinterest the other day, and found an etsy listing for a beautiful metallic “Welcome to our wedding” sign that clocked in at $85. Sigh. No. Just, no.
What I love about these moments is that they give me an opportunity to be scrappy! Home Depot is my happy place, so I swung by on my lunch hour today and picked up a piece of plywood ($3.95), some of Martha Stewarts metallic paint in “Rose Gold” ($2.99) and some paint pens ($1.99 each) and got to work.
Here was my inspiration:
And here is my version:
I’m not sure if I’m loving the section below “Welcome to our wedding”, so I may take a round saw to this sucker and cut it in half. I already had these faux eucalytpis sprays from Joann’s ($3 each I believe?) and plan on pairing it with a steam of hot pink faux peonies I have coming in the mail. I’m still working on refining the lettering.
This project ran me about $15, so I saved $70 by DIYing. There are of course some obvious differences in craftmanship, but I’m very happy with the result!
