So we are having a wine themed reception and I’m making the centerpieces out of painted wine bottles. Our colors are yellow, grey & white. The tables are long rectangles so I am planning on putting the three wine bottles in the middle, scattering yellow flower petals down the length of the table with candles throughout. Here is a mockup I did this weekend. I had to use fake yellow flowers I had in a vase in the bedroom, and really cheap plastic yellow flowers I plucked off the stem to scatter.
What do you bees think? Any suggestions? I don’t know whether I should use white or grey tablecloths. I am going to have yellow bow-tie napkins on the plates.

I like it. I’d use white tablecloths.

@StormAL: Thank you! That’s what I am leaning towards too.
Also, does anyone know of any flowers that resemble the fake ones I used? I am pretty clueless when it comes to different types of flowers. We are planning on DIY’ing them to save money. I really like the look of the tall, branchy type. I found yellow orchids you can buy in bulk from Sams Club, but you only get 60 stems/$140.

@BakerBee16: Love these! I second the pp on using white table cloths.
Have you looked at fiftyflowers.com? They do bulk wholesale like Costco. the nice thing about their site is you can sort flowers by color so you could probably find something similar that way even if you end up ordering elsewhere.

@tentwelvethirteen: Thank you for the tip! I’ll definitely be checking that website out 🙂
@StormAL: This was my moms suggestion but I looked and it is only a seasonal flower available from Feb-April and our wedding is in May. I love them, though!

I seriously LOVE this and really think I am going to steal if for my centerpieces. I haven’t liked anything I’ve seen nearly as much as I like this. Absolutely gorgeous.

@BakerBee16: Pinterest has been failing me! Why haven’t I seen this?! How is that even possible, lol. Maybe I have seen it but it never caught my eye until I saw yours. I just emailed my MoH at 1 am because I am so excited about this lol

I would mix up the wine bottle shapes and do several gradients of gray (like in the inspiration). You can also look for different sized bottles.
This website shows a few different shapes. Places like Cost Plus, Trader Joe’s, and discounted grocery stores often have very affordable wine for sale in many shapes.

You can also try browsing craigslist, sometimes people keep bottles for ages and then end up giving them away.

@SarahTee: Haha! I’m glad you like them. The mockup I did was really fast & crappy! I love the look/idea of it SO much though!
@julies1949: Thank you!!!
@nineteen87: I called a local wine shop and the lady was so nice and is saving all the empy wine bottles for me! So I definitely plan on using different shapes & different color gray’s. The only reason the bottles are one color is because it was the only grey spray paint my Fiance had on hand.

Too funny, we are using wine bottles as well. I really like what you have done.
we are painting ours black, with some curly willow And a love quote on the bottle. i think we may use another bottle and also a little floating candle for ours as mine looks kind of plain.
Yours looks great!! I love what you did with the flowers!
