    I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. You could always put it over the back label if you still want the real label to be visible so people know what they are drinking.

    At my first wedding (a million years ago AND before pinterest was around, I may add 🙂 I used the actual bottles, and made the placecards to read for example “Name- Mrs Smith- Table “Clos du Bois Cabernet Sauvignon” INSTEAD of the table number. Each table had a different bottle and guests had to find the table with their bottle on it. It was quite fun and I still to this day get a lot of compliments! But otherwise, i see no reason why you can’t wrap a bottle with a number on it.
