Hi bees! I’ve made it clear that the party and music is very important to me and I don’t want to skimp on that. However – I’m now thinking about changing my mind, as money always talks!!
We’ve interviewed with two entertainment companies so far and I’m really torn. One company will give us a DJ with an MC (two people) plus some kind of sparkler sendoff and lots of personalized attention. They were professional, and made it clear that they will take great care of us, and do whatever we want. They were $400 more than the person we met with later, who came as a referral from a co-worker (hence a discount). This other guy owns his company, and will be just one person as both DJ and MC at our reception. He’s been in the business for a long time and seemed to really care about giving us a good party and adhering to what we want, just like the other place. But – no send-off, surprises or extra person to help coordinate anything or help if something goes wrong. However, we aren’t doing many formalities at our reception like garter/bouquet toss and other things that we feel just get in the way of drinking, eating and dancing it up. Just intros, toasts, first dances and later cake cutting, really.
Is it worth the $400 for an additional person to help us out and make sure the reception goes smoothly, plus a fun sendoff and private dance at the end? (It’s probably like 1% of what we’re going to end up spending. We are paying ourselves with some help.) Or should we save our cash for more food or decorations and go with the lower end option, since we’re not doing a lot of stuff anyways? I am very torn, as I will really be upset if my wedding party isn’t great because we hired just one DJ/MC. Any thoughts from brides who had just one, or had two and loved it?
