We are getting ready to book our dj and photographer and there is a company that does both. Has anybody ever done this and is it worthwhile? We’re you satisfied or do you wish you had separated them?

I highly recommend finding a DJ who is awesome, and a photographer who is awesome and whose style you love.

I’m not a fan of combo businesses. Book vendors who are masters at their craft, and not trying to be a “jack of all trades”. Companies like that rarely are hiring pros who specialize in that, but rather just any old person. A company local to me does DJ, video, lighting – none of their people are pros, they hire from craigslist to fill the spots.

I would make sure you do your research. There are businesses that exist that are legitimate DJ/Photographer teams (usually couples) that offer those services packaged together that are both masters of their craft. There are also those that offer those services packaged together and are only doing so to monopolize on your wedding budget, not becasue they’re good at both things.
Speak with this company as well as others. Shop around and make sure you’re getting what you want. As a PP said, make sure you love the work of both the photographer and the DJ you hire. There is a clear difference between a good DJ and a great DJ as well as an amateur photographer and a great photographer.

- Wedding: May 2016 - Magnolia House
I booked mine together. The DJ is awesome and he has a lot of references. I am completely sold on him. He does A LOT of weddings so he told me he has 3 photographers that he works with a lot and could offer me a combo discount with both vendors if I booked together (He is very concerned about his reputation and said he wouldn’t do this with mediocre people)…but no worries if I didn’t book together. But the people he works with are all reputable and the portfolios I saw look awesome. I can’t complain plus I got an awesome deal. It saved me probably $1000 and it may not seem like much to some but it is alot to me. I am very happy.
I would suggest you look at their portfolios and if they look good to you go for it. If they look shady then pass.
