Hi! So a cousin of mine was telling me what a great deal she got on her dj, he was okay but I figured if the price was right why not. However she told me she paid $2200- is it me or is that crazy for 5 hours? I’m on Long Island for reference, I’m going to start looking soon but was hoping to have a baseline idea of what the quotes might be…

Hi – I think that is a pretty good deal for long island. I live in NY but I am getting married in California (not LA or SF) and paying about 1500. I know when I was looking at having my wedding in New York all the prices were significantly higher so that may be about right.

I’m in NYC and my DJ is $1000. My venue has a complete sound system though, so she gave me a deal since she doesn’t have to lug her equipment. I think normally she’s about $1500.

that’s about the going rate in the nyc/long island/hudson valley area. we found a DJ for our Catskills wedding for $1800 – and that was a good deal. also, something to keep in mind…many DJs offer packages that include lighting, MC, stuff like that. chances are she got more than *just* the music with that package. but yeah, $2200 is totally typical for the area (took me while to get over the shock, too)

My wedding was in Chicago in 2014, and we had a fantastic dj. We paid about $1400. That’s a fair price for a good dj.

We are paying $500 for 4 hours in Iowa.

I have five hours in Southern California for $900 but that’s with military discount.

I’m paying 2300$ dance in clouds he will be there for my ceremony for music as well. He is also doing intelligent lighting. He’s one of the best Djs in the tri state area. I feel I definitely am paying a lot for one night but one of the most important things is having an awesome DJ to rock the wedding. That’s an average price

Thanks bees! Guess I’m just in shock

Sweet! I’m from Canada too and trying to get pricing from DJs. No idea what a reasonable price is for small population town in NS.

I’m in nj and my dj is charging $1200 for unlimited hours. He might be just starting off. But he was highly recommended by Fi mom. He was originally $1500 for 2 people a dj and mc but I told him my budget was $1200. He agreed to do it for that for only him and helper. He also does live sax so it’s a huge plus. His name is Dan the sax man. I haven’t had my wedding yet so I can’t comment. But he’s been nice to work with so far!

Our DJ for a Northeastern city is 1000 for 5 hours, and we did a lot of searching for this price. I think for NYC, 2200 isn’t too much of a stretch unfortunately :/

We are getting married in Laguna Beach and we’re paying 2,000 for 6 hours – DJ + Acoustic Music (Our DJ is actually a really awesome Jack Johnson style kind of performer) + Equipment 🙂 He’ll be playing through our ceremony, cocktails and reception.
I think 1,500 – 2,000 is quite standard unfortunately, at least in Socal. . .
