…anyone had a reception in a barn with a DJ? I am just curious how the music turned out because my grandmother is worried the music will somehow be louder in the barn than if we had it elsewhere…I’m not sure why she thinks that but I thought I would ask?

I’ve not been a barn reception, but I’m sure as long as your DJ knows your venue space, they’ll bring the proper equipment.
I figure: 1- they’re the experts and will know where to place speakers to work with the acoustics of the place, and 2- people used to have string band barn dances without any speakers and had a heck of a time, so you should be just fine 🙂

I agree with NDBee. If your DJ is professional he/she will know how to handle the space.

@shedayz: We have a barn at a local heritage museum that doublea as a theatre once a year. The accoustics are incredible (we don’t use mics). It’s the DJ’s job to make it sound great (anywhere…..). Have a great time in your barn (I love barns)!
