@filmshooter55:  I don’t know any DJ’s that have posted THAT many pictures, 10-20 snaps maybe but 150? That is unusual. Is it bothering you?

That is bizarre.  I would be pissed if my DJ was taking photos at my wedding much less publishing them online.  Not cool, and I would send a nasty letter saying they must be removed.

ugh. We have a dj like that in our town. He drives photographers nuts. He tries to sell those images to the couple and their families and undercut photographers. It’s very unprofessional!!

Our contract with the DJ has a place to initial if you don’t want your pictures posted online which I thought was a great idea, and I quickly initialed it.  That seems odd to me that he/she posted that many pictures from your wedding.

That is so weird and I wouldn’t like it. And, when did he have time to take 200 pictures at your wedding?

@Sea_Ashley:  I had the same question!

Our DJ posted two or three cell phone shots and I was fine with it. To have your DJ take 200 photos meant he was basically standing there with a camera instead of doing what you had hired him to do…which is control the crowd and pump up the music. Did you in fact see him constantly with his camera out? I am really having a hard time believing he had time to do both his job and go photo crazy.

That’s screwed up.  I wonder if since been doing it all along, if the bride saw his FB page and decided to book him anyway.

@filmshooter55:  I am not an expert, but I think that would have to be in the contract wouldn’t it? Those are not his images to publish…

My DJ did this, and he does this for most of his couples. Honestly, we were grateful because those were the only photos we had until our pro photos came back! (our venue was super difficult to capture for guests)

This is becoming a HUGE problem in our area. At one point the DJ and I had choice words* because he was severely interfering with what I needed to capture. To the point he SHOVED me out of the way during the first dance to “get his spot” – uuumm hello you are in charge of music not photos Mr!! He set up a ‘surprise’ 10ftx10ft slide show of his crappy photos during the reception. The screen was so bright and ugly is totally changed the atmosphere the bride was going for. I could tell she was not happy about it.

This guy became such a problem and I know a lot of photographers are putting him will not work with list. Meaning if the couple already hired this guy we will not take on the wedding. We’ve also put it in our contract that we can be responsible for missed or not-up to par images due to guest or other vendors taking photos.

It’s not like I would show up with my ipod and go up to the booth and start playing my music as a ‘gift’ to the couple!

*I did this during dinner service when we were in the other room away from guest. I would never interject bad vibes in front of guests or the wedding party.
