Can any of you lovely ladies in the DMV area point me to a good dry cleaners that will clean my wedding dress as well as preserve it? Also, how much did it cost you? I’m hoping it doesn’t equal out to half of the cost of my dress.
I live in Northern VA if that matters.
Thanks in advance!

becomingsumner: In terms of bridal dress shops, I can definitely suggest a few. I find Alexandria to be a very good spot for dress shops. I personally purchased my dress from Global Bridal. If you’re a shorty like me, make sure to always ask whether you can get a dress Hollow to Hem, especially if there’s a lot of lace or beading involved. That’ll save you a lot of money in the long run. I prefer the shops I listed at #1,#2, & #4. Just make sure you let the shops know your price point.
- Alexandria, VA:
- Global Bridal Gallery
- 4Everly After Bridal
- Rosalin’s Bridal Boutique
- Herndon, VA:
- Soliloquy Bridal (This place is generally out of my price range, but they will have sample sales that are worth looking into. When they have a sample sale, they bring in models to walk down a runway in their shop; they’ll serve champagne to the brides. It’s a really fun experience – there’s a small charge to attend though)
- Woodbridge, VA:
- Group USA (This place mainly sells prom dresses, but they do have a wedding dress section. They carry the Camille La Vie brand, which ranges from $400 – $1,000).
- Gaithersburg, MD:
- Rockville, MD
- St. Anthony’s Bridal (This place takes in a lot of dresses that are donated, so a lot of the dresses end up being around $75 or so. Keep in mind that you may find a dress that works for you, however, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack. The people that volunteer at the organization are very nice, but this is not a glamorous place. It reminds me of a thrift shop for wedding gowns. I would have purchased a dress from here, but unfortunately, it was too small. This shop is hidden and shares a space with a pet grooming business. You’ll have to walk through the pet grooming business and head to the basement where all of the dresses are stored).
There are tons more in Alexandria & DC. Just check out weddingwire, theknot, and Yelp. Best of luck!

dojx: I am not in that area but I used an online company:
http://www.gownspreservations.com
I was given a free kit from my Bridal Salon. I was afraid to send it away but it came back fast and looks amazing!

pinkdaisy12: Thanks so much! The prices seem very reasonable. I will definitely look into it some more.
