I’m about two hours south of The District, planning a Charlottesville, Va. wedding… And it’s right around the corner (8/22/15).

Good luck with all your planning! Vendors really don’t overlap this far out geographically. 🙂

beautyofdreams:  I am! There are a lot of us, it seems. Not sure where they’re all hiding now.

I feel pretty silly repeating this, since it’s on the blog, but here are my details so far:

Date: November 2015

Venue: Mansion at Valley Country Club

Vendors: Friendly Entertainment (DJ), Kelly Philips Photography, Yia-Yia’s Bakery, Holiday Inn Timonium.

Still need: Florist. And limo, although I think my Fiance has booked it, and I just don’t know the name…

beautyofdreams:  Hey there!

I’m getting married 09/10/16 at Rockfield Manor in Bel Air, MD

So far I’ve chosen:

Officiant (“More than Words Wedding Officiant”)

DJ (Soundvision Entertainment – DJ Hike Brown)

Caterer (Sterling Caterers in Jarretsville)

Photographer (High Contrast Photography)

I think I have my dress picked out but am going to look at a few more to be certain (The dress I’m leaning towards is Divina by Maggie Sottero)

Makeup (Makeup by Rasheila D)

Hair (Ambiance in Abingdon, MD – my regular salon)

Florist (Dee’s Flowers in Aberdeen, MD)

Cake (Sprinkles Specialties out of York, PA – they work with my caterer)

I still need:

Rehearsal dinner venue

And I’m sure lots more that I can’t think of right now lol

Commenting to follow. I’ll be starting planning within the next couple months and I live north of Baltimore, about 30 mins from PA.

Actually, while I’m here might as well try to get some venue recommendations. I started a thread a while back but got almost no responses. I’m looking for a reasonably priced venue with outdoor ceremony and reception options but that also has a good rain contingency plan in place. I want something woodsy feeling, preferably with a stream or lake/pond. Willing to travel about an hour and a half from Bel Air MD… Considering Thorpe Wood, but would like to have some other options to look at as well. Thanks guys!!

There are soooo many wonderful places to get married in the DMV it’s always crazy to me when I hear of a new place… for example I work in Elkridge (live in columbia) and i’ve never heard of your venue OP. Granted I didn’t look in this area lol but it looks beautiful

My venue is in old town alexandria: morrison house hotel

Rehearsal cocktails: the gibson (u street corridor)

Flowers: 99% sure i’m going with whole foods alexandria

Cake: buttercream bake shop

Photography: gray kammera

We still need an officiant.

beautyofdreams:  Yeah and everything out here is so pricey! Ugh. I’m originally from Ohio but have lived in MD about 6 years now, and I STILL get sticker shock lol. I’m thinking we may just order catering from our favorite restaurant (The Olive Tree) and have it at our house. We’ll see!

beautyofdreams:  ha! that’s funny, you live near my venue and i live near yours!

yup most (if not all) whole foods do bouquets, arrangements, flower girl crowns, boutonnieres etc. I read about other bees using them and stopped in my local whole foods to inquire and florist handed me an list of their prices and they’re really reasonable. She told me to contact her a little closer to the date (new years eve) and we could discuss what was available… i think they prefer to use fresh and local of course… and what all I needed and such. I’m having a very intimate wedding so i’ll only need flowers for myself, groom, two flower girls (our daughters), bridal party of 4 and parents and I think when I added it up based on the list she gave me it was around 3 or 400 total. Our venue is 10min from the old town whole foods at best so it’s pretty convenient

since you’re getting married in elkridge i’d stop in the columbia whole foods and check them out even if you get your event flowers from someplace bigger you may be able to save on bouquets and such? worth checking out.

beautyofdreams:  We’re using Ash Lawn-Highland, James Monroe’s home.

The ceremony will take place in the John’s Garden and the reception will be at the pavilion.
