I have a 50cc Yamaha Vino Scooter… so, I have a half bike ;-0 I love it though! I’m not sure how I would feel about going freeway speeds though. 45 is good for me!

My husband used to have a crotch rocket but he sold it when we moved.  He’s looking to get something a little more like what you have.  It was nice sometimes to go for a ride but the one he had wasn’t terribly comfortable so I was kinda glad when he said he was selling it and looking for a non-crotch rocket bike.

I don’t have one, but my Fiance does.  He has a 1984 honda nighthawk. I will be practicing on it a bit this year I think, and then taking a certification class if I like it. Right now it’s a bit intimidating still. We live near some awesome country roads perfect for cruising.

Oh and the Honda Rebel is exactly what he wants.

I want a pink crotch rocket like soooooo bad!! My mom was gonna buy me one as bday present a few years back but quickly changed her mind when one of her friends died in a motorcycle accident. 🙁

My Fiance has one but he hasn’t had his license since before we started dating, so he’s never taken me with him.  And now his parents are taking his bike when they move since his dad has his license but no bike and they paid for it anyway.  So it will be a few years until my Fiance can get a new bike and his license.  Frown

I checked “I wish I did” but I actually did used to ride.  I had a little Harley Sporster that was perfect for me and I rode for one summer and loved it!  I highly recommend taking the class, it was great for teaching and I thought the pace was good for learning.

I think my riding days might be over for a while now but I do miss it!

My Fiance has a GSXR 600 and I ride on the back.  I don’t think I’ll ever get one myself because I have this need for speed and I think I’d probably end up splitting lanes going 100 and killing myself.   I love being on the back though…it thoroughly relaxes me, I love that thing!

I’ve got a little yamaha that I LOVE.  It’s actually been awhile since I’ve ridden, sadly.  Anyhow, you should definitely sit on it before you buy it.  You can get a good feel for how you’ll be able to handle it.  Personally, I like the standards over the sport (the Rebel is a standard) just because I feel more comfortable, but it’s totally personal.  Also consider if you’ll want to go off road at all – the Rebel won’t take you there, but you can get a dirt bike for about the same price (if not cheaper) and make it street legal.

@soon2bee- The community college near us offers classes and they also include the road test. They even supply the bikes, so you can try it out and get comfortable before you purchase your own!

I had my own last year but had to sell it because of money issues.  I had an 01 250 Honda Rebel.  They are great starter bikes and absolutely awesome for the vertically challenged (I’m 5’3″).  I did get uncomfortable after riding about 30 mins and my absolute limit was 50 miles.  We are planning on buying bikes for both of us next year after the wedding.

I started on a honda rebel but to be honest, I needed to upgrade almost right away since its such a small bike.  I would suggest starting off with a Honda Shadow. That way you get some speed and it will last you a while plus its a great starter bike.  Either way, have a great time! It is so liberating to ride next to your Fiance or Husband instead of on the back.
