Fiance gave me a promise ring…we were probably 18…I can’t remember.  We had it redesigned to be my engagement ring when we got engaged last December.

Darling Husband gave me a promise ring when we were dating in high school (sometime during our second year of dating). He was saving up for a car but then decided to put a ring on it!!

I wore it everyday (on my right middle finger) until it was crushed the year before he proposed! He proposed on our 10 year anniversary, we were married on our 11th!

My promise jewelry is my engagement ring. We didn’t do a promise ring because we weren’t teenagers.

Also, every couple I personally know (not including those on WB) who have exchanged promise rings broke up. I know there are several on WB who didn’t break up, but that’s just my personal experience.

@Mrs Christopher:  My hand got stuck in a roller coaster seat. Painful to say the least, the ring was all warped.  Had a lot of trouble getting it off my finger too.  After that, instead of doing something with it, I put it away and told Darling Husband that he needs to put a new one on it LOL

@mrsbruff2b:  That’s like the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.  I guess if it was any kind of practical I would have melted it down and made a wedding band and/or a pendant.  How the heck did it get stuck?

I received a promise ring from my previous partner, but not my Fiance. For a high school relationship, it was fine. As an adult, I wouldn’t want that as I think we’ve reached a point whether you either commit or you don’t.

I have a promise ring. He got it for me because we knew we wanted to get married, but we also knew it would be a while before we could get the “real” ring. Here’s the stock photo:

@Mrs Christopher:  I put my hand on the head rest and the person in front of me lifted their seat thing and my whole hand got smushed. =S

Boyfriend or Best Friend gave me a promise ring after we had been dating for a year and a half. We were both 17. I got it as a Christmas present, and he got it for me after I saw it at a mall kiosk and mentioned how pretty it was. The ring cost $70 so it wasn’t a bank breaker. The night he gave it to me, he had me close my eyes and started talking about how he loved me and promised to do everything he could to make our relationship work. It was very sweet. Since we are not yet engaged, I wear it every single day and haven’t taken it off in nearly 3 years.

Just before I began my conversion course, my SO wanted to give me a sign of his commitment, since I was giving such a huge commitment to him. However, since he wasn’t in a financial place to propose, he got me a promise ring that everyone confused with an engagement ring when I first got it. It has tarnished a bit since, but I still wear it everyday.
