I really wanted to get it done for a while, so on Monday I went with a friend and got my conch pierced. It was way more painful at first than I thought it would be, but then it went away pretty quickly and wasn’t bothering me too much until the other day. Damn, this piercing is a bitch. I’ve been cleaning it like I’m supposed to be, but the cartilage there is so thick that I think that’s why it’s hurting so much. Luckily it’s “in” my ear so I can’t bump it on things as much as my coartilage hoop.
Do you have one? How long did it take to heal and how much did it hurt for you?

I didn’t have a conch piercing, but I had a daith piercing. It was fun for a while, but it wouldn’t heal and it always was getting in the way of something. I took it out about a year and a half ago when I had to have an MRI. I don’t think I’ll ever do that one again.

I do! I got it done freshman year of college and the original jewelry is still in there. It took awhile to heal, and I remember not being able to sleep on that side or talk on the phone for months. It’s funny because the hoop is stuck in there so I never really think about it, but every once in awhile someone will notice it and assume it’s new.
You can sorta see it there
Hm guess it’s hard to see in pictures…but it’s there! It’s a really wide gauge (I can’t remember now) and it’s been in there for almost 7 years.

I had a conch piercing for 1.5 years unil it just fell out……sorry to give you bad news, but I cleaned it ALL the time (anti-bacterial soap) and it NEVER healed!

@pinkandsparkly: Ooh I really like that on you! I’m excited to put a hoop in it later (right now it’s just a stud) once it’s healed
@Rock Hugger: I’ve heard they can take a very very long time to heal

I had one done in college (took it out and it closed up though ) and i think it took about 12-16 weeks to heal completely. I remember I couldn’t sleep on that side, but didn’t have any other issues.

I had one in highschool and don’t remember having any issues with any prolonged pain after having it done. That said, after having it a few years it randomly developed a huge keloid scar. Even though it was long healed, I must have irritated it somehow and got an infection – yet I have no memory of dealing with an actual infection. Anyways, I had to go through steroid injections to dissolve the scar. It went from the size of a cashew and now just looks like a normal scar on the back of my ear but took a couple years to shrink. The moral of my story is, if you’re suspicious at all that you’re dealing with an infection, or the healing process doesn’t seem right, don’t risk leaving it in. I’m otherwise not prone to keloids, but apparently with trama to cartiledge its quite common.

Sorry, I have nothing to add about the actual topic, just wanted to say I clicked on this thread because I thought it said: “Do you have your COUCH pierced” and I was super curious what that meant! Haha
Anyways, I like how conch piercings look!

I was told to use Bactine and spray it twice a day. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide because it dries the surrounding skin and takes longer to heal.

Ahaha, chalk my comment up to another Bee misreading this thread title. I wasn’t sure if it said “crotch” or “cooch”…..it says neither. :S

@Juliepants: bahbahaha! I saw “cooch pierced” for a second. I was like awwww, shizzle, I don’t think I should open the thread

I had my industrial put in 12 years ago. It took a good year to completely heal. I made the mistake of getting it just weeks after having had the tragus of the other ear done. It was weeks before I could sleep comfortably.
I just used the yellow antibacterial soap on it. To this day the smell of Softsoap makes me think of piercing studios.

@Eva Peron: Yet you did anyway, and THAT is what is awesome 😉
I thought we were talking about Cooch’s too. And I actually do have a cooch piercing so I was looking forward to participating! But alas, my hopes of finding other weirdos like me were dashed. :/

I have mine done and I LOVE it, have had it for about a year and a half. I think it took about a month or so to heal…my dad has a prescription for this anti-bacterial soap that I use for my piercings and tattoo’s so I have no recommendations as to what you should use, ask your Piercer if you are having issues with it they should know
I also have my industural done on the other ear and that took about the same for me…I also had minimal pain with all my piercings and tattoo’s I think I just have a high pain threshold

@KristenGotMarried: 😉 haha curiosuity killed the cat. Maybe you should start a cooch thread to locate the others!
