My Fiance proposed to me (one knee and everything) and presented me with a custom made ring.  She also wears an engagement ring now.  Mine is below.  Hers is a simple white gold band with diamonds all along the band (channel set).  When we get married we will both be wearing wedding rings as well.  I plan to get a wedding ring that is similar to her engagement ring and she is getting a plain white gold band.

The photo is a little blurry and doesn’t show all the detail of the ring, but it’s good enough 😉

I saw this and thought I would put my two-bit in. I was nearly finished planning my proposal to my partner but he got there first! lol BUT this is the site I was goign to use. They do a range of really cool, different and non-traditional rings.

Apparently he is very good, and very quick too. I think it would be different for me, though, because postage to the UK and that.

I especially like these ones because it is a ring with somethign in it – liek a stone, but more organic, plain and less blingy.

And… if you are a history geek like me:

I hope someone finds this useful! After I got over the shock of being asked (it had been 11 years!) I then asked if he wanted a ring too. He DOESNT! Whaaat? Maybe I will by him and engagement ring and wear it myself? Oooh! Meterotie.

Yes, we do! We went ring shopping together. We are both really feminine women so we both have traditional sparkly, diamond e-rings. We didn’t want matching ones since we have differing styles, so mine is a solitaire and hers has a halo around the center stone.

My fiancée and I both have engagement rings but they are VERY different. We have different styles (I love anything with some sparkle… she’s a little more subdued… Laughing). We went shopping for rings together and each picked out our own. Mine is a round solitare in a trellis setting and her’s is an emerald solitare in an east-west setting. We got engaged in June 2011 and are getting married in November so this is old news but I still wanted to play along. Here are some pictures:

I know this post is old, but I like the idea of doing to thin gold bands like this.  They could match in color if SO doesn’t like the mismatched look.  Then you have a wedding band and an engagement ring.  Any thy only add up to the width of a normal wedding band.

@MissKabers: Haaa, that is awesome that some jeweler assumed you must be sisteds!!  FI and I were looking at engagement rings a couple months ago at a jewelry store as well — and we were BOTH trying them on — and at the end of a full hour of back and forth with the saleslady, she turned to me and said, “Ok then, so when will your guy be coming in so you can get his opinion too?”
