I’ve been in 4 weddings and only in one of them did all of us match (same dress, hairstyle, etc). In the 3 others, dresses, shoes, makeup, hair, and jewelry were all different.

Nope.
The original reason for matching bridesmaids was to confuse evil spirits and kidnappers who might have it out for the bride… and yes, they were supposed to match the bride.
If you’re not worried about evil ghosts, evil exes, or the spirits of vengeful ancestors, put your girls in whatever you want. Just make sure they’ll look good together in the photos.
In your case it would make absolutely no sense to try to make them look alike. They don’t and they never will. I think you will all be much happier and more comfortable going ahead with your plan to bring out their individuality in their looks instead of trying to standardise them.
No, they don’t all have to match and wear the same thing. I believe that not everyone looks the same in the same dress. All of my girls wore black but different styles of dresses. I said as long as it’s black, it’s all good. They all wore different black dresses that looked amazing on them. They also chose their own jewelry, shoes, and hairstyles. It all worked!
I bought 4 swatches from David’s Bridal and gave each of my bridesmaids a set. They can choose any dress from DB any length, as long as they are any of the four colors, and it doesn’t even have to be the same color. I think it’s most important that they are comfortable, and tbh, the same color does NOT look good on everybody.
I’m giving my bridesmaids a choice of 3 colours for a dress to go along with my colour scheme and the rest they can sort themselves. Hair make up jewellery shoes whatever, I don’t mind. I’d rather my bridesmaids be comfortable than match, I think a comfortable bridesmaid will result in better pictures than a matching set of bridesmaids.
No! I am having my bridesmaids in different shades of beachy blues. I asked them all to have long dresses made of a chiffon type material, but other than that they can pick what they’d like. They are free to choose accessories, hair/makeup, shoes (or no shoes… we’re getting married on a beach so shoes are optional!) etc.
I am planning on making them necklaces to tie our theme together, but they don’t have to wear that if they don’t want to. A little individuality makes sure that everyone is their most comfortable.
I love the mix match look. I am aksing my girls to wear the same shade of a color, floor length and thats it. I hate to make people purchase a dress that 1. they don’t feel comfortable in and 2. spend money they wouldnt want to spend.
So a lot of freedom, but I like them all to look different, comfortable and happy.
