Or how about later than quoted?
I have looked around at dresses for a couple of weeks after I found one that I thought was my favorite…well it still is my favorite, but the arrival time of the dress has increased by nearly a month since I last inquired about it. With the quote, I will still get it before my wedding, but won’t have a ton of time – only a couple of weeks – for the (simple) alterations like hemming.
What’s the likelihood that the dress will be early, or late?
I’m going to run into this at nearly every bridal shop at this point since it’s so late in the game, unless I buy off the rack. Is it too late for me to even order a dress anymore?

When I bought my dress it was off the rack. I wasnt “allowed” to order it. It was the same with my step sister when she got her dress.

I don’t know about bridal gowns, but my bridesmaid dress arrived within a week.

@Handful: I’ve heard this a lot – I think this might be regional. It sounds like the ones near me all order dresses, for the most part.

A Bridesmaid or Best Man dress I bought came in 2 months earlier than they said. My friend’s wedding dress also came in about a month early.

My DB dress was quoted as 8 weeks and came in 2 weeks. However if they have increased the quoted time since you last checked, perhaps it is very popular right now and they are having a hard time keeping up? I would try to find out more from the store if possible.

I think it depends on whether or not the dress is a sample size, has to be special ordered, or is a designer gown. I know with DB the first dress I bought was quoted at 6 weeks but I got it in a week and a half. I exchanged it for a Melissa Sweet gown and I ordered it in early december and it should be here in April (early) so I suppose it is coming in early (I was quoted for early May). I would make sure to check with the shop to see if the dress can be rush ordered, it will be expensive but worth it! Remember to factor in time for alterations! Good luck!

I ordered my dress January 7, 2013. I picked it up o January 30, 2013.
I have had a beautiful experience with DB. The shop gets a lot of bad rap, but for me, I was and continue to be treated like the most important person in the room.
