About 5 years ago I used to go out every weekend, and without fail end up at the 24 hr grocery store getting treats. It was always the same people and would give me awkward knowing glares.. AT LEAST you’re pregnant and have somewhat of an excuse, I was just drunk and disorderly.

idoalterations:  They probably remember your face, but I highly doubt they are making a personal inventory of your purchases. Just remembering your bright, smiling face!   Don’t be self conscious! If it helps, I’m a serial store visitor too.

We made friends with the woman who runs the meat/seafood counter because she always gave great advice to Darling Husband for BBQing. For years we see her every Sunday. She was so excited to find out I was pregnant and now every week when we bring DS shopping, she runs out from behind the counter to see him.

She got into a car accident over Christmas and wasn’t at work for 1 month. Darling Husband and I literally considered switching grocery stores because we realized we didn’t even like this one all that much, we mostly go just to visit her.

We’re lame….

I think the lady at the 711 remembers me because every morning before work I go in and get a soda, a donut and 4 beef mini tacos.

She hasn’t said anything about it though so she probably doesn’t care about my weird “breakfast”

I buy bus tickets at the same convenience store. At about 22 weeks pregnant and having last been there at probably 16 weeks, the guy at the till asked me if I had a sister who lived in the neighbourhood. I don’t have a sister… I was thinking, “But you’re probably confusing me with myself, 15 pounds ago!”

I worked at a grocery store all through high school – there was a few customers I’d recognize by face, but I never remembered what they were buying and how it compared to their previous purchases.  I wouldn’t worry about it.

fionak:  I think cashiers only remember you if your purchase is “weird” in some way. A friend of mine worked at a grocery store and always remembered this one guy because he would come in and buy wine, condoms, vegetable oil and cucumbers or carrots.

I thought maybe it was a guy playing a prank but she said he came in often enough and only bought those things that she assumed it was serious purchases lol

We are on a first name basis with the woman who works at 7-11.  She gives my 2 year old a free banana every time we come in.

idoalterations:   Lol yes. I don’t ever go shopping all at once. I go every two days or so. And I live in a small town. The night cashier always stops me to chat. I know her whole life story.

I regularly shop at smaller stores rather than big commercial stores and they all know me by name and order inventory of my favorite ice cream and cookies. I have no shame. EDIT: Damn the new wedding bee, I didn’t realize I posted on pregnancy!!
