I registered at 3 stores: Macys, Crate & Barrel, & Bed Bath & Beyond. Macy’s is by far our largest registry as we liked the rewards program. My shower is Saturday and only ONE gift has been purchased at Macy’s (by my mom). The rest have been at BBB & C&B. Has anyone else experienced guests just completely ignoring Macys? I assumed that if one of our registries was going to be ignored, it would be C&B since there’s only one location around us.

If I were a guest I would be going straight to Bed, Bath and Beyond. I prefer shopping there, it’s an easily accessible store if I want to go in person (as opposed to shopping online) and they take coupons always. If I get a rare Macy’s coupon, I like to save it for myself to go shopping. Also, I have to go to the mall to get to Macy’s, which is a hassle, and being that it’s a huge department store, I find it harder to shop in when I want to zero in on a registry item. Just my two cents, sorry.

Macy’s is a last resort for me. I would head straight to BB & B.
In fact, I dislike Macy’s so much that if it was the only choice I’d just give them money.

I think it’s a regional difference. The majority of guests purchased a gift from my Macy’s registry, and few purchased gifts from my Williams Sonoma registry. I didn’t register at BBB, because I felt like it was redundant with the stuff I would buy from Macy’s.

Everyone bought off of my Macy’s registry first!

Macy’s is very popular here, so most people bought from there. The other 2 reg’s I had were Crate & Barrel and Sur La Table.

Macys was better online, but I like shopping in store at BBB. BBB also has the 20% off coupons.
It’s SUCH a hassle to get into my Macy’s store! I hate battling traffic at the mall and then having to find a spot in the parking garage (usually a mile away from where I want to be).

I wouldn’t buy off Macy’s just on general principle because they bought and replaced Marshall Fields in Chicago, and I’m STILL way bitter about it. I LOVE C&B so I’d go there first, with BB&B as my 2nd choice because they have good coupons. I’d probably send a check before getting something from Macy’s.

I prefer BBB mostly because I know there will be a variety of price points on the registry. I feel that a majority of stuff I’ve seen registered for at Macy’s is overpriced and out of my personal wedding gift budget.

I always go w/ BB&B because of the coupons which lets me get more expensive gifts for less 🙂

I registered as Macy’s and BBB – so far everything has been purchased from Macy’s, no one has bought anything at BBB.

The Macy’s where I live are awful and I wouldn’t go there. I also dislike their online site. So, they wouldn’t be my first choice.

Interesting! I hadn’t thought about it, but only one or two items were purchased off our Macy’s registry. Pretty much everyone who purchased gifts bought things from C&B! I’m thinking the reasoning (for mine at least) is age. Older family mostly gave money and younger guests bought items from C&B. I could see C&B being more appealing for people my age.

We registered at Macys and BBB and so far it’s pretty split for purchases.

I hate shopping at BBB and we didn’t register there either. I think the store is ridiculously cluttered but I haven’t checked out their web/mobile options. We usually gift from Macy’s, but we try to hit a high dollar amount to get the free shipping, since $10 shipping is a little steep. Macy’s usually has a lot of items on sale too which I like, as a guest, and that means I can get more for less. I know BBB offers sales, but I usually throw away all their discount coupons in the mail before I remember that a couple is registered there. Macy’s is very convenient for me as a guest and since I have a Macy’s card synced to my online account, I’ve shopped/purchased for registry gifts while waiting in the waiting area at the salon or in line at Costco (where the line is very long) without even having to pull out my card.
We registered at C&B too, and I would say that the majority of the more cash-strapped guests purchased from there since our other one is Williams-Sonoma with pricier gifts. That being said, I had a guest purchase up entire sections of our C&B registry since the price point was lower so they could get more things.
