Hi Girls and Guys,
Did anyone use an iPod for their wedding ceramony music? Does anyone know if hotels usually have a sound sytem? If not, what is the alternative? Are rentals usually cheaper than getting a DJ ($150 for the ceremony for us)?

Our hotel had a sound system that our DJ used for our cocktail hour to avoid having an additional setup in the other room. You should probably just ask your venue coordinator since I’m sure all hotels are different.

The hotel may or may not have a built in sound system. If they do have built-in speakers, you would still prefer having a wireless mike, which are more pricey to rent. Renting speakers would doubtless cost you more than 150 – you have to figure in mikes, mixers, wireless systems that your DJ would have. Sounds like you have a fabulous deal w/ that DJ.

If they handle weddings then they usually are set-up with a PA system. If they don’t then your officiant may have a PA system that will work.

Most hotels have sound systems, and will charge you for them (usually a sound mixer, microphones, and wiring into the house system.)

Thanks for the advise. I re-checked the info packets given to us, and there is AV (but didn’t say anything about quality and where in the hotel). So, we mentioned that the hotel would have a sound system and the DJ actually replied that it did for the atrium. 🙁 @danicalifornia thanks about telling me the price was reasonable and about the rentals! I think we will go with this DJ, but working with vendors is tricky!
