I found a really pretty dress on oncewed. The girl is willing to send it to me for a really good deal. The thing is, I haven’t tried on any dresses yet, and we aren’t getting married for 9 more months, so, should I buy it?! The really nice thing is that she states that I can return it within 2 days of receiving it if I would like to. What do I do?!

I would go to a store and try dresses on first. I found that a lot of dresses looked completely different on me than I thought they would.

Is there a bridal shop around you that carries the dress? If so, I would go try it on before buying it. Also, would you have to pay the return shipping? If that’s the case, I would definitely try to find it at a bridal store to see if you like it on. Dresses can always look really pretty in pictures, but once you put it on your opinion can change. The other thing, dresses from a shop that are ordered from a shop can take up to siz months to get in, so I would start looking soon. Just a thought.

I agree with jrswiggy that either way you need to start looking at dresses so you have time for long lead times and alterations afterward which you need to do at a minimum 2 months beforehand.

You really need to try some on first to get an idea of what looks good on your body. The “princess” dress I always imagined myself wearing (strapless, with a million layers of tulle for the skirt), well it looked like a joke on me! haha

I agree with the other bees…you should try some other dresses on first to get a feel of not only what you like, but what likes you. Some dresses that I thought would be perfect for my “plus-size” ended up making me look like a marshmellow or worse…LOL. I definitely got a different view of what I liked and what would work after I tried on dresses several times.

I agree with the others…you should go to a store and try the dresses on first. You need to figure out what shapes work best for you. I did that and found it very helpful to know what shapes worked and what didn’t. Also, by trying on the dresses, I learned that I wasn’t a plain simple dress girl and that I needed a little something, like a little bit of detail.
Also, if you want a good deal, try a sample sale in your area. You could save money and know exactly how the dress fits on you. I’ve seen dresses at sample sales from 40-80% off.
Good Luck!!! 🙂

I’m pretty sure I saw that dress yesterday 🙂 because I remember being impressed with the fact that she’d take returns within 2 days and how smart she was about it!

i’d try on other dresses because personally i really wanted that experience. even if the dress looks awesome on you, there’s the possibility that you could forever be questioning if it’s the right dress because you had nothing to compare it to.

I think if you haven’t tried on dresses yet, it might be the best idea to buy it online. Had you already tried on dresses, I would say go for it. I think it’s really important to have a look and see first hand what type of dress works for your body.
