So I have been shopping approx 5 times – been to 7 diferent stores & have tried on countless dresses. I was looking for my dream dress Allure #8751 but couldn’t find it anywhere. So I finally just about to order another dress (Allure #8609) that I liked but didn’t LOVE, when I found a store 6 hours away that carried my dream dress.
When I told my mom that I had found it & wanted to go try it on her response was: “Give it up, we can’t be driving all over the country trying to find the one you THINK is your dream dress.” (We have already had to drive 3 hours each way the other 5 times we have gone dress shipping since there is no bridal store close to where I live)
Now I am torn – I can’t decide if I should drive to try this dress on & there is a 50/50 chance I either LOVE it or I won’t like it. Or should I order the dress that I like but don’t love. I have a feeling if I never try the dress on I will always have it in the back of my mind.
Should I give up on my dream dress?

@MissJay: i would absolutely not give up…. thats just my opinion….if i HADN’T found the dress in ANY store then thats a different story….BUT you have found someone who has it and i can’t live wondering whether or not it was the dress of my dreams….i would rather travel the 6 hours to find out whether or not i love it, than always wonder “what if”…..

Never give up. It’s YOUR dress. It’s YOUR dream. And nobody should ever tell you to give up on a dream. The world is built on them.

I wouldn’t give it up. I’m sorry your mom doesn’t want to drive with you, but maybe your Maid/Matron of Honor or a Bridesmaid or Best Man would want to make the trip. It may not be your dream dress once you try it on, but until you do that, you will always wonder about it.

I’d make the trip too, I LOVE that second dress!!! Sorry, bad influence! It’s one day! DO IT UP! You gotta LOVE your dress

I would always wonder if I would have liked it if I didnt go, but 6 hours is a pretty long trip. Did you try dresses on in a similar style of the one you love and like those too? I found that the ones I thought I would love, I actually didnt like one bit once I put it on. (I’ve only gone to the running of the brides) I’m so off with what i think i’ll like vs what I like, that I just stopped oggling over dresses to try on and am perfectly happy with the one I bought there that I loved – even though I was totally eyeing some Maggies that I think I may love too.

Don’t give up on it! I would totally make the trip and try it on! Even if you don’t like it, at least you will know, instead of always wondering if you made the wrong choice.

If you can find one with a similar overall style, I would try that on first, just to see how the style/fit is on you. Then if you really like the style on, you may want to make the trip?? Good luck.

Uh, I don’t think I’ll be any help at all when I say that I love love love the second dress. But, I can’t see myself driving 6 hours to try it on.
Ok, now that I’m thinking about my experience… maybe you should try it on. First, did you buy the other dress already? And if so, can you return it? Here’s the thing, I flip flopped between dresses a lot. I ended up spending more money than I needed to and didn’t ever have that, “I love my dress, can’t wait to wear it!” feeling. So if I could go back, I’d do everything I needed to do to make sure I had the RIGHT dress. 6 hours is rough, but so is not being sure that you have the perfect dress for your wedding day. Did I make things harder? I do that sometimes :o/

Thanks everyone! All your comment have been reassuring. I even told my mom I was willing to drive by myself – It’s not like I am making her go or she has any obligation to tag along.
To answer some questions: No I have not bought the other dress. I was just about to call & order when I decided to call around to see if anyone has the other dress.- I have tried on similar styles & love it. I really want straps because I have broad shoulders, but everytime I try on a dress with straps I hate something else about it. And I also love the fit & flare look – which I have tried on before & loved AND the buttons down the back! (You guys can’t see these as I don’t have a picture of the back)
Ahhhh—-I am drooling as we speak!
