I was facing this same dilemma.  I asked the hotel and they offer a late check out.  So, I am basically paying for a day and a half for one room.

I had the same problem. My girls ended up paying for the first night since a few were a little further away and liked the idea of cocktails at the hotel the night before.

My friend works at a hotel that has day rate (not in a sleezy way, its a beautiful boat resort by a airport, so I guess bussness men and rich travelers needing a place for the day) They also have a fee for earl check in BUT only if there is no one in the room the night before, so its a gamble if you dont reserve it at the day rate.

My hotel, still nice, but not a resort, and doesnt have that. You need to have it for the two days in order to be able to get ready… SUCKS!! Thank goodness my Fiance is getting ready at home since he doesnt have beauty apointments, and riding up with his boys.

Just call and ask if they have day rates, or early check in garunteed.

We’re planning to do the same- sleep at home, get ready at the hotel.  Definitely call them to see if the room is booked the night before- so far, ours isn’t, so it’s ours at 10am.  Even if it IS booked, they said they could let us know as SOON as it was available, and were able to give me a “no later than…” time.  It’s definitely worth checking into.
