Just got married – wanting to take my husband’s last name. My question is whether I have to change EVERYTHING from my maiden name or just the more important things (SS, Passport, DMV…) Was wondering if I have to go to all my credit cards, loans, subscriptions, college alumni things?
Thanks! I’ll do it all if I have to, but just wondering if it’s necessary.

I would updated your credit cards and loans, but for things like subscriptions and alumni stuff, it probably doesn’t matter.

I’m right there with you. I’m leaving my magazine subscriptions alone, because..I don’t care that much about it 🙂
Only changing SS, DMV, Bank info & Electricity bill. 🙂

Anything attached to your formal (i.e. social security) identity has to be changed, so that means your bank accounts and loans.

Bank accounts, loans, credit cards all need to be changed…. PITA, but worth it in the end.
Magazines–eh, no big.
Schools? I didn’t, but should have… it’s coming back to bite me.

I changed it all…but that is just me…I have friends that only have some credit cards changed and their SSN Card and DMV and Passport.
