You’re being silly (since you asked lol).  No one listens to all the words.

    I Love You lyrics

    I like your smile
    I like your vibe
    I like your style
But that’s not why I love you

And I, I like the way
    You’re such a star
But that’s not why I love you

Hey, do you feel, do you feel me?
Do you feel what I feel too?
Do you need, do you need me?
    Do you need me?

    You’re so beautiful
But that’s not why I love you
    I’m not sure you know
That the reason I love you

Is you being you, just you
Yeah, the reason I love you
Is all that we’ve been through
And that’s why I love you

I like the way you misbehave
    When we get wasted
But that’s not why I love you

And how you keep your cool
    When I am complicated
But that’s not why I love you

Hey, do you feel, do you feel me?

I would just tell him that you loved the slideshow and then tell him that you saw that the song is actually about a couple that break up. He probably didn’t even notice and possibly just half knows the lyrics. I don’t think it’s a big deal to say something, you guys should just laugh it off and pick a different song.

I’d worry about coming across as the unapproving MOB.  The song isn’t overly dark or anything, so I’d just leave it.

I would talk to him. I’m someone who listens to lyrics because I assume that the songs were chosen for a reason. If it’s about an ex-relationship and played at a shower, then I’d definitely be wondering about the choice of song. I’d probably write it off as someone just randomly heard it and didn’t pay attention to the lyrics, but I’d be curious how much I should invest in a wedding gift if I learned that the Fiance picked out such a song. /slightly facetious about the gift 🙂

@star_dust:  Yes–just bring it up gently as in, “Didn’t know if you realized this, but…” rather than outright asking him to pick something else. Maybe the song has some other significance for them that you don’t know about.

It’s just one line.  It probably won’t be a huge deal to your daughter.

But you could still mention it to him.  Maybe he can have the song fade out before that line and fade back into the song again or a different song.

Well I just read the lyrics.. I mean, yes there is a lyric in there about not making it through, but it’s actually one line in the end.

I can see how he probably didn’t even hear that. I will agree with @LibertyBelle: and say that I too listen to lyrics. I’ve never heard the song so I can’t say if it would stick out to me, but I don’t think it would be silly to say something if you wanted to. It doesn’t have to turn into a big deal and nobody has to come off sounding disapproving. If you otherwise have a good relationship with him, then who cares?

I would say something, but people usually don’t catch all the lyrics.  Guys especially!  My Fiance does not know any words to any songs.  I know all the words to every single song I have ever heard, though.  So I would definitely notice it which is why I say to say something.  Someone like me might be in the crowd and notice it, too, lol.

I voted to say something to him.  He may not know the words but guarantee someone else will and that will be AWKWARD!

    I voted say nothing.

I am a HUGE lyrics person. It took me a long time to figure out Mr. Aardvark was not. If he hears a song with the word “Love” and a melody he likes he is sold. I am guessing that is what happened here.

And honestly, unless he writes the song himself, there is always a risk that part of it won’t fit. I think its ok.

What about having  the song cut so that you don’t hear that part?  It can be done…

Agreed with several of the previous posters. I would mention it casually, like I thought it was funny. Son, the slideshow is great, is that song special to you two? I thought it was funny that it’s about a couple that didn’t work out. If he doesn’t seem fussed by it likely the bride won’t either.

Do nothing!  You are being silly and I’m also guessing it’s a special song for the two of them.  Keep it as is and do NOT edit it or say anything to him!
