In order to save money where I can, I was wondering if I REALLYREALLY needed the hair and makeup trial. I am getting my hair and makeup done at a salon that I have never used before, BUT, my styling will be very simple (a few clip in hair extensions to combat my short-hair-that-refuses-to-grow) left down in soft curls. Some false eyelashes and some eye makeup.
In order to save $250 bux (plus tip!) do I NEED this? Of course, if I don’t go through the trial run, I understand the risk I take of looking like a very pretty clown on my wedding day. But $250 bucks for a trial? C’mon!

I voted that you can skip it. But since this a vendor you’ve never worked with before, I would be somewhat hesitatant, even with a simple style. Is there any way they’d knock down the price for the trial? That seems really expensive. There has to be other places that are cheaper than that!

Wow – that sounds like an expensive trial!! My vote is to save the money, but personally I’d at least want to have the hair trial. Mine is this weekend and I’m nervous about it. I want an updo, but they are really hit and miss whether or not they look good on me!

I think you can skip it. It seems like you know what you want and it sounds simple. Have you ever had extensions before? I think that is the only part which would make me nervous, will they look natural? will the color match, etc.? But it’S not something I have experience with. If you are confident then go for it. Make up can always be altered as it is being applied if you don’t like it.

yeah, seriously it sounds like a lot of money
The only reason why I said YES you do, is basically because you don’t know what the outcome is going to be (even if you tell them what you want!) you may love it, you may HATE it! and on the DAY OF the wedding is certainly not a day you want to deal with hating the way your ‘money maker’ looks lol.
I have gotten may makeup done professionally countless times and there has been more times I have hated it than not. I go home and basically take it all off, and its such a waste. I am the type of person who knows makeup as well, so I usually know what I want and how to do it (but a professional application is always better) so it’s pretty crappy when I pay all this money and it’s horrible.
It would be great to save the money! thats great, but I do vote for getting it trialed if you are getting it done at the salon. If you were doing it yourself obviously it’s not as big of a deal becauseyou could practice the looks on yourslef as much as possible!

Bees! Thank you so much for the great input! BudgetBeautiful, I called the salon and explained that what I wanted was very very simple (down, messy, sexy hair) and they dropped the price of the hair trial from $250 (for an intricate up-do) to $75!!! Way more affordable for a trial run. They also suggested that I not to the makeup trial, and instead, just have a free consultation with the makeup person to make a plan of action for the day of.
Thank you for all of your great input on this. The bees come through again!

I had one and I didn’t feel it was worth it. I showed her what I wanted and she did it, and it was fine, I would have been better off just letting her do that the day of. Waste of my $$. I guess if you’re not sure what you want it might be good, so you can try diff looks, but if you KNOW what you want, I say skip it.
