(Closed) Do I need a tent for an outdoor Reception?

I think it would be wise unless you have a good indoor facility on site as a backup plan.  It also depends on how the weather typically is in your area.  Here in Florida, there is no way I would do an outdoor wedding in May without a backup plan for rain.  Also, consider how hot it may be.  You didn’t give many details.

If we didn’t have a plan B inside the venue, then I would rent a tent for the outdoor wedding.

You don’t have to have one; however, I am sure your guests would appreciate it. Like banana stated, it would depend on what the weather is like that time of year and also if you have a backup plan. Some people are also sun sensitive. I am, and I can’t be in the sun for more than about 10 to 15 minutes at a time or I risk passing out and/or getting very burnt.

I think the only weddings that can really get away without having a tent are in California. I would definitely come up with a back up plan or rent a tent. It would give you a lot more peace of mind in case bad weather happens.
