    @Macchiato:  How long has it been? I ordered a ring from Blue Nile about 2 years ago and even 2 months later they actually took the ring back in for a full exchange. Also, if they can’t give you a full exchange if they still have the setting you purchased and it’s not discontinued they will give you a percentage for the setting towards a new one. That’s an option.

    Now if you want to use the setting for another stone and re-set your diamond than you should do it as long as your SO agrees. Now ask yourself do you just want another ring because your friend has it. If so you might regret it later on if it’s a setting you love. Now if you can’t find a band to fit next to it have you thought of going the custom route to get something made that will match perfectly?

    If none of these options do it for you, there is no rule that says you have to have a wedding band. You can use the ring you have and tha’s okay too.
