If you didn’t have a runner, I wouldn’t even notice. I think that you could easily skip it without even a thought from your guests.

An aisle runner has nothing whatsoever to do with having a flowergirl or not. Neither are required and no one will miss them if they aren’t there. I couldn’t tell you from any weddings I’ve attended if they had one or not. But I have heard many horror stories from other people about them (bride and other attendants tripping on it, etc).

I’m not having an aisle runner.  Honestly, it’s just one more thing to trip over.  Every wedding I’ve ever been to with a runner, it’s gotten torn or stained by a careless guest before the wedding even started. Every single one. No lie.  Like five or six weddings.  My friend made one for her sister’s wedding, and some cad spilled red Snapple on it before the ceremony started (don’t ask me why anyone would bring a red Snapple to a wedding ceremony). They took it up to avoid staining the bride’s dress, so there was no runner at all after like 40 hours of work on it.

I think they’re kind of a waste if you’re on a budget, honestly, and most people won’t notice if you don’t have it, but everyone will notice if it gets messed up.
