Hola hive, I’m new to posting and this is the first question I’m asking.
Do I really need to send out save the dates if I send out the formal invite 5 mos in advance?
I’m swamped with work right now (working 7 days a week) and just don’t have the time nor the desire to send these out if will just get the formal invites out in May.

No! I skipped out on them as well, I would much rather the money be used towards my wedding.

Is your wedding local? I really don’t think save the dates are necessary unless you’re doing a wedding where many people need to travel or it’s on a popular holiday weekend. Ten years ago, nobody did save the dates, and In My Humble Opinion, they are another thing we’ve been convinced we have to spend money on by the wedding industry! I sent them because my wedding is a destination wedding but would not have otherwise.

Nah, I’m skipping them. Everyone who is getting invited already knows when the wedding is. The out of towners have mostly already booked hotels. They will be fine without an STD reminding them of what they already know.

@hardtoconcentrate: There will be some family travelling from out of state, but most people are in the area (LA).

You don’t need to do Save the Dates, but 5 months in advance is way too early to send invitations.
