Hi bees! I’ve booked a beautiful venue for our wedding, but the chairs aren’t very nice (plastic kinda patio style chairs). The stretchy/scuba chair covers fit the chairs perfectly, but the cost will be around $500 (lots of guests = lots of chairs = lots of covers). I would have to buy them, as the venue only has black available for rent. It would look much better with chair covers of course, but we’re on a budget, and it’s money I could spend on wine instead. Does anyone even remember the chairs? How important is it really? I’ve attached pics so you can take a look at the chairs. Thanks!
PS: I’ve also looked into all chair rental options and they’re even more expensive than buying covers.

I think the chairs look just fine. Appropriate those funds to something more meaningful to your guests’ enjoyment. Wine sounds great!

Hi Bee
I would say chairs can really make a difference with adding/taking away from the overall feel of a space. However, there are some items that I think others will agree are more important like wine :). Is it in your budget to rent chairs? I think the plastic is fine for outside really. If its not in your budget then go ahead and put that money toward wine if you know your crowd will enjoy it. Personally, as long as the chair is clean and comfy id rather have free alcohol.

No, they look really nice.
ETA: some people are saying they don’t need to be covered because no one else will notice or care. I’m saying they don’t need to be covered because I really think they look nice.
In my opinion, chairs make a difference whether the guests notice them or not (and they do notice). There’ll be dozens and dozens of them; they’ll be in nearly every photo taken during the ceremony and reception, and right next to all that carefully coordinated decor. It’s really about what you like and want to remember when it comes to chairs and chair covers, not the guests.

I think they’re fine – no one will remember the chairs but if you’re providing good wine that will certainly be remembered!

When people are seated no one will notice the chairs.

Those chairs are fine. I think chair covers will be uglier.

coquelicot : I wouldn’t cover the outside chairs (It’s more than acceptable for an outdoor ceremony). I would cover the inside ones though.

I like the look of the black chairs inside against the white. Its all the rage right now to have a different colour chair to the table.
Save your money and spend it on something else. 🙂

Hello!
Once the room is full and people are sitting down, chair covers will honestly not make a huge difference. One thing you might like to do, however, is buy sufficient tulle from a fabric store and cut it into strips to make your own chair sashes so that you can tie a bow on each chair. That will certainly be much cheaper than the $500 for chair covers.
As for the ceremony chairs, you can tie a bow on the side of each aisle chair to create a beautiful walk way for you as you walk up the aisle.
Just some alternative ideas! Let us know what you decide!

I actually really hate chair covers. Plus these chairs aren’t bad. So keep!

Those chairs are just fine. Also don’t waste money on chair sashes or decor of any sort. No one else uses those things except brides. It’s just one of many things the wedding industry has made young brides planning their first big event think you can’t do without.

I like these chairs, I don’t think they need to be covered.
