- Wedding: September 2012
my brother is not exactly a one woman man. at any given time he will have 3-5 girls “in rotation” and he has a new “favorite” every few weeks.
last night he brought his current favorite to the house for dinner and as she was leaving she said something like, “see you at the wedding.” uh…what??? i i have no idea where he got the impression that he could bring a date. as soon as they left, i brought it up to my parents. my dad didn’t see the big deal.
our stance on plus-one’s is that if you’re engaged or in a serious, long term relationship, you will get a plus-one. another thing is, we absolutely cannot add to our guest list at this point. we can’t afford it and we have very limited space. my fiance and i both come from very big mexican families, so we’ve had to cut a lot of friends/family off our guest list in order to stick to our budget. IF we were going to make an exception for anyone, it would be for one of our friends/relatives who we had to leave out, not for my brother’s “flavor of the month.”
when i brought it up to my fiance, he wasn’t thrilled about it either. part of me says not to make a big deal out of it because this girl may not be in the picture in 6 months anyway. but i don’t want him to think it’s ok for him to invite anyone he wants either. my fiance and i are in charge of the guest list and we get to decide who’s there. my brother and i don’t have the best relationship and i know this is not going to over well with him.
thoughts? do i need to let him bring someone?
